Baby It's Cold Outside

Soon winds of winter will begin to howl through the Valley! Brrr!! Throughout the month of September, the Community Service Committee will be collecting Winter Outer Wear (coats, gloves, winter hats, scarves, etc.) for adults and children, guys and girls to benefit the Salvation Army. Your donations will be given to folks in our community who need a  little help to stay a bit warmer during those cold winter months.

Collection boxes are available in many real estate offices OR you can dropoff your donations at the RVAR office.  Do you know anyone who is cleaning out in preparation for moving day? Ask them if you could help by collecting their unwanted winter outer wear and donating the items!

Salem Named Best City to Live in Virginia

When it comes to living in Virginia, people have lots of choices: the mountains or the beach, urban or rural, big city or small town. If you are looking for the best place to live in Virginia, look no further than Salem, Virginia.

Salem was recently named the Best City to Live in Virginia. The rankings were based on data from five key areas: violent crime, commuting, income, college education and restaurants per capita. Salem was also noted for its strong athletic presence, its spectacular views and proximity to attractions such as Dixie Caverns, Natural Bridge and Smith Mountain Lake.

Christiansburg took the number two spot -- and Martinsville ranked 10th on the list.
