Election Results for RVAR's Board of Directors |

Congratulations to the following who have been elected to serve as Directors on RVAR's 2019-2020 Board of Directors. Dana Berenbaum, MKB, REALTORS® Jay Kilby, RE/MAX All Stars Julie Kingery, RE/MAX Mountain to Lake Lori Shultz-Moore, Wainwright & Co., REALTORS® 496 ballots were cast in the election. These new Directors will be installed on December 14th at RVAR's Installation and Awards Breakfast. Continuing their service on the 2019 Board will be: President Neil Conner (The Real Estate Group); Immediate Past President Connie Hash (MKB, REALTORS®);and Directors Barry Bridges (Weichert Bridges & Co.); Jerry Cohen (Park Place Realty) and Meg Smith (MKB, REALTORS®). The Broker representative for the 2019 Board has not yet been announced. |

RVAR Endorses McNamara for VA 8th House District |
|
RVAR's Board of Directors has endorsed Joe McNamara for Virginia’s 8th House District race. The 8th House District includes Craig County, part of Montgomery County, part of Roanoke County and the City of Salem. This is a special election to fill the seat vacated by Greg Habeeb.
The candidates were asked the same questions about the top issues facing the district, the role of economic development and tourism, ideas to promote the region, the expansion of broadband, transportation infrastructure and funding, and how best to use tax revenue from the Internet tax. Virginia REALTOR®’s RPAC Trustees will make a $1,000 contribution to McNamara’s campaign. The special election will take place on Tuesday, November 6th.  | Joe McNamara

Recognitions for the Greater Roanoke Valley |
|
USA Today recently named Roanoke as one of the best metro job markets in 2018. Roanoke was ranked #10 and Blacksburg was ranked #6 -- the only two Virginia localities to make the list. Franklin County and Roanoke County have been recognized as nationwide tech leaders for communities with a population of less than 150,000. Each placed in the top 10 of the Annual Digital Counties Survey. Outside Magazine featured Roanoke as one of "America's Smartest Towns", with a focus on the growth of craft breweries in the area. |
