AFFILIATES – Chelsea Dyer, Chair
Plans and implements all aspects of the annual REALTOR® & Affiliate Night, including selection of date, menu, theme, and decorations. Both REALTORS® and Affiliates are welcome on this Committee. Meets as needed to plan the event.
BROKER COUNCIL — Kit Hale, Chair
Serves as resource to share Broker perspective with the RVAR and MLS Boards of Directors; shares issues and concerns with fellow Brokers; plans quarterly Broker Breakfasts for all Brokers. Typically meet six times each year.
COMMUNITY SERVICE – Brittany Shultz-Moore, Chair
Serves as RVAR’s ambassadors to the community. Participates in quarterly service events throughout the year. Reviews and makes recommendations regarding new charities eligible for RVAR support. Both REALTORS® and Affiliates are welcome on this Committee. The committee meets most months.
CREDENTIALS – Ashley Donahue, Chair
Reviews all applications for open positions on the RVAR Board of Directors to ensure compliance with Bylaws requirements. Meets only during the August/September application period.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT – Karen Hankins, Chair
Identifies economic development opportunities in all municipalities covered by RVAR; members attend related community and government meetings. Both REALTORS® and Affiliates are welcome on this Committee. Meets as needed.
EDUCATION – Beth Powell, Chair
Assists with implementation of all educational events including GRI courses and the Annual Legal Update. Develops education classes on topics of current interest to members. Both REALTORS® and Affiliates are welcome on this Committee. Meets most months.
GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS – Thomas Fellers, Chair
Meets with and lobbies state legislators on REALTOR® issues. Interviews local candidates for City Council and Board of Supervisors; develops legislative proposals for submission to VAR. Both REALTORS® and Affiliates are welcome on this Committee. Meets regularly.
GRIEVANCE – Betty Kingery, Chair
Reviews all complaints against REALTORS® alleging unethical conduct; determines if complaints warrant a formal disciplinary hearing. Only REALTORS® are eligible for this Committee. Meets as needed.
LAKE COUNCIL – Cathie Daniel, Chair
Serves as resource to share Lake perspective with the RVAR and MLS Boards of Directors.
MLS MONITORING – Kris Layell, Chair
Monitors all MLS listings to ensure that all data is complete, accurate and complies with the MLS rules. Only REALTORS® are eligible for this Committee. Meets as needed. This Committee is appointed by the MLS Board of Directors.
MLS POLICY – Dana Berenbaum, Chair
Makes recommendations for changes in RVAR’s MLS System as well as the MLS Rules. Only REALTORS® are eligible for this Committee. Meets as needed. This Committee is appointed by the MLS Board of Directors.
PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS – Lawrence Sherertz, Chair
Conducts all ethics hearings; also conducts arbitration hearings to settle commission and procuring cause disputes. (Service on the Grievance Committee is prerequisite). Only REALTORS® are eligible for this Committee. Hearings scheduled as needed.
PROGRAM & SPECIAL EVENTS – Kelsey Vail, Chair
Plans and presents all RVAR social functions such as the Installation of Officers and Directors, RVAR Fall Tailgate, 5 O’Clock Hops events, Annual RVAR Golf Tournament (September) and other social events. Also conducts registration for other RVAR events. Both REALTORS® and Affiliates are welcome on this Committee. Meets as needed to plan each event.
STANDARD FORMS – Amber Mason, Chair
Oversees the content of all RVAR standard forms. Meets most months.
TECHNOLOGY – Mac Westland, Chair
Explores new technology as it pertains to REALTORS® and the MLS. Plans technology seminars; prepares videos related to technology. Only REALTORS® are eligible for this Committee. Meets regularly.
